Influenced by romanticism, aestheticism, mysticism, symbolism and metaphysical poetry, Ye Zhi's poetry has formed its own unique style. Ye Zhi's art represents the epitome of English poetry's transition from tradition to modernity.
Extended data:
Ye Zhi was actually the leader of the new Irish nationalists. He urged Irish writers to take advantage of Irish scenery and draw material from Irish legends. According to these principles, he wrote his first book Watson's Wandering and Other Poems (1889) and his first important drama Countess Catherine.
The development of Ye Zhi's poetry can be divided into two stages. The first stage, lasting to 19O0, is characterized by imaginary themes, such as "hazy water". In the second stage, his works were more combative and vivid, such as Responsibility, and he was appointed to the Senate of the Irish Free State.
