2. In the 1940s, Mu Dan published the Explorer, Mu Dan's Poems (1939 ~ 1945) and Qi, which combined western European modernism with China's poetic tradition, and his poetic style was full of symbolism and spiritual speculation. He is a representative poet of "Nine Leaves Poetry School".
3. Since 1950s, Mu Dan has been engaged in the translation of foreign poems, including poltava, Bronze Knight, Pushkin Lyrics, two Pushkin Lyrics, Eugen onegin, Prisoner of Caucasus, Ode to Gabriel, Lark and Gabriel by Shelley in England. The literary theoretical works translated include Introduction to Literature (the first part of literary principles), Literary Principles (the scientific basis of literature), Literary Development Process, How to Analyze Literary Works, belinsky Literature and so on, which have great influence.
Unfortunately, since 1950s, Mu Dan stopped writing poems and devoted his whole life to translation. Some people think that he is a genius of Jiang Lang, and Mu Dan began to write poetry at the age of 13. Of course, this is also a wise move, because of the political climate at that time. Mu Dan did what an independent poet could do. He deserves to be the most independent poet in China!
