The king of Qin sent an envoy to tell the king of Zhao that he wanted to hold a friendly meeting with him in Mianchi, outside the Xihe River. Zhao Wang is afraid of not going. Lian Po and Lin Xiangru discussed and said, "If your Majesty doesn't go, it means that Zhao is timid." So the prince of Zhao went to Qin, like a follower.
Lian Po sent Wang Zhao and his party to the border to bid farewell to Wang Zhao: "Your Majesty's trip, together with the accession ceremony, is estimated to last no more than 30 days. If you don't come back in 30 days, you should ask the crown prince to be king, so as to break the mind of the king of Qin. " The king agreed to this matter.
Later, King Zhao and King Qin met in Mianchi. The king of Qin drank heartily and said, "I heard privately that the king of Zhao likes music. Please play the harp for me. " Zhao Wang played the piano for Qin Wang. The Historian of the State of Qin recorded: "On a certain day, the king of Qin and the king of Zhao drank wine, and the king of Qin made the king of Zhao play the piano." Lin Xiangru stepped forward and said, "The king of Zhao heard that the king of Qin was good at playing Qin Le, so he asked the king of Qin to play tiles for the king of Zhao and entertain each other."
The king of Qin was furious and refused. Lin Xiangru offered a tile to the king of Qin, and then knelt down and invited the king of Qin to play. The king of Qin refused to tile, and Xiang Ru said, "Within five steps, I will spill the blood from my neck on the king of Qin!"
The guards of the king of Qin tried to kill Xiang Ru, and Xiang Ru shouted at them with his eyes open, and all his attendants withdrew. The king of Qin was very unhappy, so he made tiles for the king of Zhao, just like calling back the record in the History of Zhao: "The king of Qin made tiles for the king of Zhao on a certain day in a certain year."
The princes of the state of Qin said, "Please use the 15 city of Zhao to present gifts to the king of Qin." Lin Xiangru also said, "Please use Xianyang, the state of Qin, to present a gift to the prince of Zhao."
