1950 March into Fujian with the 32nd Army of China People's Liberation Army, and participate in the large-scale bandit fighting in Nanping area. Because Nanping area has long been ruled by Kuomintang reactionaries and reactionary propaganda and education, the people do not understand our party's policies. It is said that the troops of the * * * production party came, some fled, some hid, and some regarded the People's Liberation Army as the enemy. The mass base is poor and the language is unreasonable. In this very difficult and dangerous situation, Zhou Jianhua patiently tried his best to meet the masses, communicate ideas, understand the situation, master policies, put himself into work with high fighting spirit and abundant energy, often forgot to eat and sleep, stayed up all night, and wrote a lot of articles, which played a very positive role in publicizing our party's policies, organizing and mobilizing the masses, and inspiring the fighting spirit of commanders and soldiers. Therefore, it took only one year for the combat troops to wipe out all the tens of thousands of stubborn bandits held in Nanping.

During the "Cultural Revolution", he was sent to take part in the work of "three branches and two armies", fought indomitable against the counter-revolutionary groups of Lin Biao and the Gang of Four in extreme left adversity, and adhered to the party's basic principles, the party's cadre policy and the party's mass line. Safeguarded the interests of the party, protected a large number of party cadres, and repeatedly stopped the upcoming vicious conflicts between mass organizations. His fearless spirit and serious and responsible work attitude were called extremely rare acts in the Cultural Revolution by the relevant leading departments at higher levels. After leaving his post to recuperate, he devoted himself to cultural research and creation. At the age of 60, he passed the correspondence examination of the General Staff of the Central Military Commission and obtained the qualification certificate.
