Four outstanding writers in the early Tang Dynasty
Four outstanding writers in the early Tang Dynasty were collectively called Wang Bo, Yang Jiong, Lu Zhaolin and Luo Binwang, which was called "Wang Yang Lu Luo" for short. Although the poems of the Four Masters have not lost their beauty since Qi Liang, they have initially reversed the literary atmosphere. Their poems, from court to life, have a wide range of themes and a clear and handsome style. Lu and Luo's seven-character songs tend to be ci-fu, with a slightly stronger momentum; Wang and Yang's five-character verses began to be standardized, with sonorous tone, and parallel prose also contained flexible and vivid atmosphere in the collection and enrichment of ci. His masterpiece is Wang Bo's famous preface to Tengwang Pavilion: "Sunset and lonely Qi Fei, autumn water * * * sky is one color". Four outstanding figures are the figures in the transitional period between the old and the new in the literary world of the early Tang Dynasty.
