Seeking Ji Bolun's famous prose poems?
When Ji Bolun was young, he mainly wrote novels. After he settled in America, he gradually turned to writing prose poems. His novels are almost all written in Arabic, including short story collection Bride of the Grassland (1905), Rebellious Soul and novel Broken Wings (19 1 1). Broken Wings describes the tragic fate of oriental women and their struggle against fate, denounces greed, fraud and submission, and praises self-esteem, will and strength. His novels win with the protagonist's philosophical monologue, dialogue and narration, especially the passionate conversation between the oppressed and the injured. His other works published in Arabic include Short Chapters of Music (1905), Tears and Laughter (19 13), The Tempest (1920) and Hymn of Rank (/kloc-0). His first work written in English was a collection of essays, Crazy People (19 18). Since then, Lu Ji has published a collection of prose poems: Pioneer (1920), Prophet (1923), Shamo (1926), Son of Man Jesus (1928) and The Prophet. The Prophet is regarded as his masterpiece. In the form of parting words from wise men, the author discusses a series of life and social problems, such as love and beauty, life and death, marriage and family, work and happiness, law and freedom, reason and enthusiasm, good and evil, religion and so on. It is full of metaphors and philosophies, with oriental colors. Ji Bolun also drew his own illustrations, full of romantic feelings and profound meanings.
