A genre of China's ancient poetry, with relatively free syllables and metrical patterns, adopts the archaic style of five-character, seven-character and miscellaneous words, and is rich in variety.

There are eighteen sentences in Cen Can's Bai Xuege Farewell Field-Attendant Wu Comes Home, twenty-four sentences in Du Fu's Autumn Wind Breaking the Cottage, and one hundred and twenty sentences in Bai Juyi's Song of Eternal Sorrow. There are thirty-seven lines in Du Fu's Chedian and eighty-eight lines in Bai Juyi's Pipa, among which the longest Song-style poem in the Tang Dynasty is Wei Zhuang's Ode to Fu Qin, with as many as 238 lines.
2. Retained the narrative features of ancient Yuefu.
It integrates remembering people, talking, discussing and expressing feelings, and the content is full and vivid.
For example, Du Fu's "Car Shop" contains the narration of "pedestrians" when they go out to war, the question and answer between "passers-by" and "pedestrians", and the sigh that "we know that it is unlucky to have a son, but it is much better to have a daughter". It's really inspirational after reading it. Another example is "The Hut is Blown by the Autumn Wind", in which there is a narrative of thatched huts, a sigh of "I am leaning on a stick when I return", and a strong lyric and desire of "I am settled in a luxurious building" ... it is enough for me to freeze to death alone ",which makes people feel sad after reading it.
3. Rhythm and rhyme are relatively free.
Flat and informal, you can change the rhyme.
"Gexing" style poetry breaks through the shackles of metrical poetry in terms of meter and rhyme. Because it takes a long time to express feelings and there are many sentences, it is difficult to pay attention to balance when it rhymes to the end.
For example, there are some rhymes in the twenty-four sentences of "The Hut is Broken by Autumn Wind". The form of singing style is relatively free, which is determined by the content.
4. The sentence pattern is flexible, usually seven words.
There are also seven sentences, interspersed with three, five and nine sentences.
Usually named after Song, Xing and Song Xing.
For example, Bai Juyi's Song of Eternal Sorrow, Bai Xuege's Farewell to Tian Shuji Wu's Home, Bai Juyi's Pipa Trip, Du Fu's Car Shop, Gao Shi's Travel Notes of Yan Ge and so on.
