The author discusses the influence of the image art of western modern poetry on China's modern poetry from four aspects: the principle of image, the expression strategy of image, the generation of image and the form of image. Especially in the section of image expression strategy, the author divides the expression art of subjective images into three types: illusion, variation and metaphor, supplemented by specific texts, which can be described as originality.
From the perspective of imagism, this book makes an ontological observation on the history of modern poetry in China and outlines the imagistic track of modern poetry in China. Since the 1980s, some scholars have begun to study China's poems from the perspective of images, or specifically analyze the images of China's ancient poems, or study the image presentation of the contemporary new poetry tide, or carry out pure aesthetic appreciation of China's modern and contemporary poetry images, or theoretically analyze the composition or combination of poetry images, and rarely combine theoretical summary with close reading of the text to examine the imagization process of China's modern poetry. The author puts forward the category of poetic theory based on the perceptual accumulation of specific texts, which is extracted from the exploration of rich text objects, and the analysis of specific texts is also based on these new theoretical categories.
