Ruan Lai’s personal works

Ruan Laiyou wrote a variety of poems and essays, and his collection of essays is called "Yizhai Yiji". His Chinese works include three volumes of "Records of Lanshan", "Collection of Ci Ming in the Army", "Da Gao of Ping Wu", "Collection of Poems of Yizhai", "A Study of Yizhai Yu Geography", etc. Famous works include: "Ping Wu Da Gao", "Family Instructions Song" and "Yu Di Zhi", etc., which occupy an important position in the history of Vietnamese national literature. The "Guoyin Poetry Collection" compiled by him contains 254 Nam poems, which is the first complete collection of Nam poems in Vietnam. The works are all written in Tang rhythm poetry. In form, Tang rhythm style has been innovated under Nguyen Lai's pen. He pursued breaking away from the strict rhythm regulations of Tang poetry and created a national poetry style that was different from China. His innovation is obviously reflected in the poet inserting one or more six-character sentences and first and last chants into the seven-character poems in Tang style. The characteristics of Nguyen Lai's poetry were adopted by later generations of Vietnamese poets.
