1965 10 "Dongfanghong" was jointly produced by Beijing Film Studio, Bayi Film Studio and Central News Recording Film Studio into a color wide-screen film, which was shown nationwide and had a far-reaching social impact.
The filming of the film "Dongfanghong" made necessary cuts to the stage performance version of 1964. Only the prologue "Dongfanghong" and the first six acts "Dawn of the East", "A single spark can start a prairie fire", "Qianshan", "Fire of the Anti-Japanese War", "Ruining the Chiang Dynasty" and "China people stand up" were selected.
Dongfanghong is a music and dance epic celebrating the/0/5th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC). Through singing and dancing, the performance summed up the arduous revolutionary struggle of the people of China against imperialism, feudalism and bureaucracy under the leadership of the China Production Party.
This epic selected the most representative and typical events in each revolutionary stage, making it a historical microcosm of China people's struggle for liberation.
Dongfanghong brings together the wisdom of artists from all over China, such as music, dance, poetry and fine arts. By creating a large-scale performance that combines ideological and artistic qualities perfectly, the revolutionary course of China people led by China Production Party and the development course of the Party's guiding ideology are fully demonstrated.
