Why are there two diagonal lines in the rhythm division of ancient poetry?

Because ancient prose is obscure, it is often divided by diagonal lines.

Slant lines in ancient poems are used to grasp the rhythm. They have more than two slashes (also called double slashes), in which the single slash indicates a short pause; Double diagonal lines indicate a long pause.

There are two kinds of pauses:

1, pause between sentences is to determine the length of pause between sentences and intonation according to punctuation marks.

2. Short pauses in sentences, which are based on words or phrases and are divided into tone pauses according to the internal relationship between sentence components.
