Textbooks are teaching materials, such as textbooks and handouts. Textbooks can be divided into broad sense and narrow sense. Textbooks in a broad sense refer to all textbooks used by teachers and students in and out of class, such as textbooks, workbooks, activity books, story books and so on. Materials written or designed by teachers themselves can also be called teaching materials. Learning materials used on the computer network are also teaching materials.

In short, textbooks in a broad sense are not necessarily bound or officially published books. Any material that helps learners to increase their knowledge or develop their skills can be called a textbook. Textbooks in a narrow sense are textbooks. Textbook is the core textbook of a course. In addition to students' books, almost all textbooks are equipped with teachers' books, and many of them are also equipped with exercise books, activity books, supporting books, audio-visual tapes and so on.
