Among the hundreds of flowers, graceful peony is known as a national beauty. Poets of the whole poem call it wonderful to write in white. The first two sentences of this poem describe the poet's joy in meeting peony.
At the end of the peony sentence, I admire its beautiful color. "I met this world by chance, and I was at my aunt's house in Zengcheng." The first sentence points out that the first time I accidentally saw peony flowers in Niu Senru's Southern Book, it was like meeting a "noble person" in life, inadvertently revealing the lofty realm of peony flowers in the poet's heart. In the poet's view, peony is the crystallization of the essence of the sun and the moon and should be planted in the sky. I met someone by accident today, so when I saw peony in Niuzhai, I was surprised. In the first sentence, the poet was in a trance and immersed in a fairyland, with a light floating in front of him. By highly estimating the value of peony flowers, this sentence shows the author's attention and love for peony flowers, and embodies the elegance and exquisiteness of the owner. The last sentence skillfully depicts the overlapping shape of peony double petals with the canon of Zengcheng of Kunlun Mountain, the queen mother of the West.
In the third sentence, I was surprised when I first saw the peony, but I turned to sincerely praise the beauty of this flower. Beautiful peonies are called "beautiful cities" by poets. The word "beautiful city" is not too much. The Tang people's infatuation and love for peony flowers is really hard to see. Beijing and Guangdong are places where peonies gather. Whenever peonies are in full bloom in April and May. The whole imperial city was stirred up. Bai Juyi wrote a poem "Flowers bloom and fall for 20 days, and the whole city is crazy", and Liu Yuxi also wrote a sentence "When flowers bloom, the capital moves", describing the unprecedented grand occasion of flower viewing at that time. Here, the poet did not use the meticulous peony image, but set off the color of the whole city with the actions of the whole city. The brushwork is ethereal and more attractive than meticulous brushwork.
Finally, the poet reevaluated the essence of flowers with the phrase "Heaven teaches late and flowers contend". The emphasis is on the words "late" and "match". Peony comes late and blooms in late spring. Du Liniang, the heroine in Tang Xianzu's Peony Pavilion, sang in compromise in "A Dream in the Garden": "Although the peony is good, how can you get it in the spring!" It is both a sigh and a compliment. Peony is pretty and does not strive for spring, and tianjiao is late, which is the best of all. Of course, we can also find the poet's mood at that time, which may include the purpose of being a late bloomer or praising the evening scenery. As for the word "matching flowers", it is also quite interesting. Since there is a "matching" cloud, there must be an object and meaning of the game. Here, I might as well quote another poem by Liu Yuxi, Appreciating Peony. The poem says: "The peony demon in front of the court is unqualified, and the lotus in the pool is pure and heartless. Only peony is the real national color, and capital moves when flowers bloom. " These four sentences can be interpreted as "a hundred flowers blossom". The poet's love for peony is consistent with his ideal embodiment of pursuing female beauty and his life experience of female beauty. His aesthetic experience of peony was formed on the basis of comparison with peony and lotus. Peony has no standard because of charm, lotus is too clean and lacks amorous feelings, and only peony is graceful and full of charm. This kind of beauty is what the poet is most intoxicated with, and it is also the reason why peony is eclipsed and dominated by others. In this sense, peony is well-deserved as the national color of Tian Zi.
The first genius to compare flowers with women undoubtedly created a great leap in the aesthetic course of mankind. Although Liu Yuxi's peony poems still personify flowers, they are not simple repetitions, but photographs of its higher aesthetic level. He sublimated his appreciation and feeling of the beauty and splendor of peony into a spiritual grasp of the female personality image, that is, the combination of form, spirit and emotion. His love has personality and affection, and contains broader and deeper aesthetic significance.
