How to appreciate modern poetry

First, the understanding of the background. If you don't know the background, you don't know what the author wrote and why he wrote this poem.

Second, the understanding of the poem itself should be read word for word and thoroughly. If these two basics can't be done, then the following can't be done.

Thirdly, poetry is an image that expresses a complete meaning. This means that you have to find out the images listed by the poet, and then see what they mean, and then connect them to see what they mean in general.

Fourth, reading poetry is actually not reading poetry at all, but letting you experience and grasp it with your own feelings, without referring to other people's comments. This is the lowest way to read poetry. The best way to read poetry is not to read it. You have to feel it yourself, so what you learn is your own.
