On the Writing of Poetry

Although there are not many people who can write poems, they are not few. Poetry is the catharsis of the poet's mood, the cognition and exploration of life and society, and also the knowledge and understanding of the world. Poetry is a ballad, a picture and a philosophy.

The real good poem lies not in gorgeous rhetoric, beautiful form and neat rhythm, but in skillful skills. As long as you can express your true feelings, think about what others don't want, and find the extraordinary in the ordinary, that is a really good poem.

Compare poetry to snow, so what is under the snow? Under the snow may be rotten leaves, or a field of hope; Maybe it is a broken flower, maybe it is a new bud; Maybe it's cold land, maybe it's surging warm current. What poetry really wants to express is the magical world under the snow, where there are good memories of the past and descriptions of present life.

In today's society, for money, honor and status, the black can be said to be white, the ugly can be said to be beautiful, and the evil can be said to be good. They regard poetry as a tool for profit, thus becoming slaves of poetry. So this is the reason why modern people are getting worse and worse at writing poems, and fewer and fewer people are writing poems.

Now many poets and scholars say that poetry has come to an end. More and more poets don't know what the purpose of writing poetry is, what is written in the poem, and what thoughts and outlook on life are expressed. Sell shit as cakes, write absurdity as artistic conception, and sing the night as moonlight. Like others, offering flowers to Buddha is elegant and meaningful.

People have forgotten the essence of poetry and only think about how to make it colorful, elegant and noble. Turn poetry into a boring and bizarre luxury, a commodity that can be bought and sold, and a symbol that can show identity and status.

If I write poetry just for the sake of writing poetry, I would rather not be a poet; If I write poetry just to win praise from others, I would rather be an ordinary person; If I write poetry just for boredom, I'd rather sing, dance or skate.

Why I have always been keen on writing poetry, because only poetry can express my understanding of myself and the world; Only poetry can express my unique thoughts and outlook on life; Only poetry can express my love and cherish for life.

I think my poem is a snow, which contains memories and yearning for the past, efforts and exploration for the present, and vision and planning for the future. I think even if I die, my thoughts, my spirit and my poems will last forever. Although I am an unknown poet, I am worthy of being a poet.
