1938 in the early days of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Japanese invaders successively occupied vast areas in North China, East China and South China, and ran around in an attempt to destroy the China people's will to resist the Japanese war. The people of China rose up and waged an indomitable struggle.
At the critical moment of the country's decline and national peril, Ai Qing wrote the poem "I love this land" with deep love for the motherland and gnashing hatred for the invaders. The poet used the land to express his deep love for the motherland ravaged by Japan's iron hoof and his enthusiasm for contributing to the country. It expresses the poet's thought of dedicating himself to the motherland and his infinite love for the motherland at the critical moment of national decline and national survival.
This poem begins with "if" and uses "hoarseness" to describe the singing voice of birds, and then continues to write the singing content, from singing before death to writing that birds return to the world after death, and finally replaces the image of birds with the poet's own image, which directly expresses the poet's sincere and ardent patriotism.
Excerpt from the original:
If I were a bird,
I should also sing with a hoarse throat:
This land hit by the storm,
This river of sadness and anger will surge forever,
This endless wind,
And the gentle dawn from the forest ...
This poem begins with "if", which is abrupt, novel and thoughtful. The "bird" in the poem is a general term, and it is a * * * name. It is different from the cuckoo and partridge repeatedly sung by poets in past dynasties, and has a natural and special charm and significance, but it is entirely up to the author to pursue new art without relying on it.
Moreover, the "hoarse throat" in the poem is quite different from the oriole, weeping cuckoo and soaring egret in the classical poetry. It is purely due to the influence of the tragic atmosphere in the early days of the Anti-Japanese War, and it is also the affectionate expression of the special temperament and personality of this "sad poet" (the author claims to be).
