Den Dorje after the rain
Highland Barley with blond hair cut off
He sat at dusk
lighting a cigarette
Then the red glow of the sunset lit up
Autumn at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters
Hiding behind the rain
The rain was in his Rolling on the cheeks
As if wearing away the river in a white hair
And the attachment to yesterday
In the not-so-distant winter
Engraved on the light
White petals all over the ground
After Rain
by Doje Cedain
After sheafing the golden bristly barley,
he presides over the eventide,
lights a cigarette,
and ignites the sunset clouds red.
The face of autumn at this alpine highland
hides behind a veil of rain.
Raindrops roll around his cheeks
the way time burnishes a strain of hoary hair
and dilutes his nostalgia.
When the soon-to-be winter arrives,
the lamplight will inscribe
slathers of white petals on earth .
