What is the national spirit of military-civilian unity?

The spirit of national unity between the army and the people.

One is not afraid of hardship, and the other is not afraid of death. This is the characteristic of the spirit of "two roads", which shows the revolutionary heroism of "two roads" people who are not afraid of difficulties and obstacles, and shows their firmness and loyalty to the ideal cause.

The spirit of "two roads" was formed in the practice of building Sichuan-Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet highways in the 1950s. The historical conditions and road construction environment at that time were characterized by bitterness and danger. Road-building soldiers and civilians have completed one "impossible task" after another without fear of difficulties and obstacles. There are mountain canyons, rapids and swamps along the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, and earthquakes, landslides, mudslides and avalanches occur frequently. It is extremely difficult to build and maintain roads here.

The average elevation of many mountains along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway is above 4,000 meters. The soldiers and civilians who build roads are always faced with harsh construction conditions such as severe cold, lack of oxygen, strong radiation, changeable climate and thawing of frozen soil. Foreign explorers assert that hundreds of miles from Hoh Xil to Tanggula Pass are "areas dominated by death". Erlang Mountain, known as "the first danger of Sichuan-Tibet Highway", is cool and humid, and it often rains, and mountain torrents, landslides and mudslides occur from time to time.

Queer Mountain, more than 5000 meters above sea level, is extremely cold in winter. When road construction officers and soldiers eat, they often eat half of a bowl of rice and the other half is frozen into ice bumps. The natural hazards of the Nujiang River are tens of kilometers long, and you may fall into the rushing river if you are not careful. It is in this environment that the soldiers and civilians who build roads have made amazing achievements in the history of world highway construction in the "forbidden zone of human life".

The two passers-by endured humiliation and were not afraid of life and death, which stemmed from their deep love for the party, the motherland and the people, their incomparable persistence and firmness in their ideals and beliefs, even at the expense of their lives. On the journey of building and maintaining the "two roads", where there are difficulties and obstacles, there are magnificent poems of "two passers-by" who put their lives and deaths at risk.

They write loyalty on the top of the earth with blood and life, and create miracles in the forbidden area of life. After hard work on the plateau, the number of "two passers-by" heart disease patients increased sharply, and many people even gave their precious lives. In order to conquer the natural barrier of Erlang Mountain, the road-building army is indomitable with the perseverance of "beating Han with iron" and "being as strong as steel".

The spirit of not being afraid of hardship and death is essentially the spirit of revolutionary heroism. Today, great changes have taken place in the conditions of the times, but the revolutionary heroism of "one is not afraid of suffering and the other is not afraid of death" will remain in our blood forever.

Facing the severe challenges and great risks faced by the country's "key leap" from big to strong, we must establish a strong sense of mission and hardship, resolutely abandon arrogance, always maintain a fighting posture, and win new victories in building a socialist modern country in an all-round way with the confidence to win and the courage to give up others.
