Personal experience:
Paul valery's poems are obsessed with philosophy and tend to be true in heart. They often express philosophical themes such as life and death, spirit and flesh, eternity and change with symbolic artistic conception, and are known as "the greatest French poets in the 20th century". Paul valery's poetic talent was highlighted in his college days, when a newspaper predicted: "His name will be sung in people's mouths."
But before and after finishing law school and getting a bachelor's degree in law, a platonic sense of abstinence controlled him. 1In September, 892, he and his family went to Genoa for a holiday. On a stormy "terrible night", he decided to give up poetry and love and devote himself to "pure and selfless knowledge".
In the following twenty years, Valery worked in the Ministry of National Defense and Hawass News Agency, but the habit of seeking knowledge and thinking deeply became the foundation of his life. In these twenty years, Valery devoted himself to mathematics that was out of place in school, and on the other hand, he continued to pursue and create beauty in his imagination.
This makes him have good attainments in mathematics, music and philosophy.
Urged by his close friend, the famous writer Gide and other friends, Valery promised to publish his poems when he was young. Before going to press, he wanted to write a short poem of about 40 lines and attach it as a farewell memorial to the poet.
However, the idea of this little poem is like a single spark, which makes Valery ignite a raging fire and burn into a long poem of more than 500 lines-"Young Destiny Goddess", which describes the contradictions and conflicts between different natures of consciousness.
The influence of this poem on French intellectuals is amazing. A critic said: "Recently, something more important than the European War appeared in our country, that is, the young goddess of fate in paul valery." A poem is more important than a war, which shows how respected it is.
In a society that loves literature and art, the echo of this poem can be seen everywhere. Many poets and scholars even like to recite poems to each other. The famous Paris magazine "Knowledge" held the election of "Who is the greatest poet in France", and Valery was selected by readers.
In his later works, Valery Cohen showed outstanding and comprehensive talent and creativity. He inherited Malamei's pure poetic tradition, but his poems incorporated philosophical thinking about life and death, change and eternity, action and meditation. From 65438 to 0922, Valery published a collection of poems, The Beauty of Fantasy, which included many excellent poems, including Footsteps, Pomegranate and Fengling.
The peak of Valery's life was the seaside cemetery in his later years. Poets in waterfront cemetery meditated on the issues of existence and disillusionment, life and death, and came to the conclusion that the meaning of life lies in grasping the present and facing the future, and the theme is the unity of opposites between absolute stillness and life change.
The opening sentence "There are white doves rippling on this calm roof" has become a household name. This poem represents that Valery's achievements in poetry creation are higher than those of his predecessor Malamei.
The symbolism poems of a group of poets, represented by paul valery, made great contributions to correcting the simple and straightforward poetic style in Europe and America at that time and strengthening the conciseness, implication, charm and texture of poems.
