The lyricist Qiao Yu was born in Jining City, Shandong Province. His representative works include "Let's Swing the Oars", "My Motherland", "People Say Shanxi is Beautiful", "Liu Sanjie" and "Unforgettable Tonight". He once served as the honorary dean of the Opera Research Institute of Peking University.
When I was young, my family had a difficult life, and I relied on my older brother to work as a shop assistant to make ends meet. During high school, he worked as a primary school teacher. In 1946, he entered the Northern University of Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Border Region to study, and began to publish poems and novels in newspapers and periodicals, and also wrote Yangge Opera. In 1948, North China United University and Northern University merged to form North China University. He was transferred to the creative studio of the third department of Hua University and began to create professionally.
