The poems in Starry Sky mostly reflect Guo Moruo's depressed and lonely thoughts and feelings after the ebb tide of the May 4th Movement. At that time, the poet could not see the deepening of the revolutionary struggle and the growth of the revolutionary forces, and could not find the correct way of struggle. The ideological influence of pantheism in the goddess era has not been liquidated, but has been regarded as a spiritual sustenance to escape from reality. Therefore, his poems strongly reveal the sadness of "sadness" and "drifting" and the sadness of pursuing the past and returning to the true. The poet described himself as a "goose with an arrow", like a "wounded soldier" and "lying on this vast battlefield" (Poem on the Starry Sky). The poet lamented "the scene of the end of the world" ("On Wusong Dike"), and the world was dirty. "There is only a green sea here!"
