gist of the article
This poem expresses a belief and contains a philosophy. The poet takes mountains and the sea as images, compares ideals to the sea, compares difficulties to mountains, and compares hard struggle to climbing mountains, thus telling people that the journey to the ideal life is long, but as long as we persist in struggle, the ideal realm will eventually be realized. Don't expect to do it overnight, and don't be discouraged because you still can't reach your goal after many struggles.
Article thinking
The whole poem is naturally divided into two parts.
The first part begins with childhood experiences and is divided into three layers:
On the first floor (from "When I was a Child" to "The Sea Beyond the Mountain"), I wrote about my longing for the new world beyond the mountain, and my mother's guidance aroused my desire.
On the second floor ("so" to "got zero"), I wrote that I thought the sea was on the other side of the mountain. After climbing that mountain, I still saw it. I'm so disappointed.
On the third floor (the last sentence), I wrote down my childhood doubts: Since there is no sea beyond the mountain, where is it? This sentence leads to the second part of the poem.
The second part reveals the symbolic meaning of poetry, which can be divided into two layers, and poetry has been naturally layered.
On the first floor, following the question at the end of the first part, the poet finally understood the meaning that the sea is the ideal sea where faith condenses when he grows up.
On the second level, the author vividly wrote how he crossed the mountain of life and advanced towards the ideal sea with firm belief, thus expressing an idea that the realization of the ideal will go through all kinds of hardships, but as long as he persists in struggle, the ideal will always become a reality.
