Zhou Zuoren

Zhou Zuoren (1885 ~ 1967)

Modern essayist and poet. Literary translator. Formerly known as the champion. The word "Star Spoon" was later renamed Huai Shou and Kui Slow, and was later named Meng Qi, Qi Ming (also known as Mingming) and Tang Zhi. Also known as Ren, pen names Zhong Mi, Yao Tang, Zhou Xiashou, etc. 1885 1 Born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, Lu Xun's second brother. 1903 entered Jiangnan naval academy to study naval management, and after graduation, he obtained official fees to study in Japan. 1906 went to Japan to study naval technology in July, and then changed to learn foreign languages. Here, I married Yuta Noko. 19 1 1 worked as an English teacher in Ren Zhongxue, Shaoxing after returning to China. After the Revolution of 1911, he served as the inspector of the Education Department of Zhejiang Military Government, the president of Shaoxing County Education Association, and the teacher of the Fifth Provincial Middle School. 19 17 was hired as a professor of arts in Peking University.

During the May 4th Movement, he served as the editor-in-chief of Xinchao Society, participated in the editing of New Youth, participated in 192 1 to set up a literary research society, published important theoretical articles such as People's Literature, Popular Literature and Ideological Revolution, and engaged in prose, new poetry creation and translation and introduction of foreign literary works. His theoretical thought and creative practice had a great impact on society and became one of the important representatives of the New Culture Movement. After the May 4th Movement, Zhou Zuoren, as the editor-in-chief and one of the main contributors of Yusi Weekly, wrote a lot of prose, with a gentle and elegant style. Under his influence, a school of prose creation, including Yu Pingbo and Fei Ming, was formed in the 1920s, which A Ying called a "very authoritative school" (Preface to Sixteen Modern Proses < Yu Pingbo Prose >). After the defeat of the first revolutionary civil war, the thought gradually deviated from the mainstream of the times and advocated "reading behind closed doors". In 1930s, prose advocating leisure and humor indulged in the narrow world of "plants, trees, insects and fish". At this time, the prose that has been written up to the 1940s, its style "becomes dry and old-fashioned, simple and vigorous" (the introduction of two papers in China New Literature Series by Yu Dafu), and its influence is gradually decreasing.

Li Dazhao was killed in April 1927, and Li Dazhao's son was protected at home for one month.

193 1 After the September 18th Incident, he felt pessimistic and disappointed about the future of China. After the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he took refuge in Japan, became the dean of the pseudo-Peking University Literature, was supervised by the General Administration of Education of the pseudo-North China Government Affairs Committee, and degenerated into a traitor scholar.

1945 was sentenced to prison for treason, 1949 was released from prison, and then settled in Beijing, where he translated and wrote Japanese and Greek literary works in People's Literature Publishing House. His main works are Essays, My Garden, Books on Rainy Days, Alisma orientalis, Talking about Dragons and Tigers, Reading and Copying at Night, Essays on Bitter Tea, Talking about Rain, Melon and Bean, Candle Talk and Reading and Copying at Night. In the History of European Literature, literary historical materials include Lu Xun's Hometown, Characters in Lu Xun's Novels, Lu Xun's Youth, and memoirs translated into Japanese Madness, Aesop's Fables and euripides's Tragedy.

1966 was hit by the Cultural Revolution, and 1967 died on May 7.
