Emily Dickinson Brief Introduction Emily Dickinson, a beautiful poet, talked about her life.

Emily Dickinson (Emily Dickinson), 1830- 1886, is a generation later than elizabeth browning. Her poems are ignored and almost unknown. Her fame came very late and was not widely recognized until more than half a century after her death. Her poetry research once became a prominent school. Today, her position in the history of American poetry can probably be on an equal footing with several heavyweights of Whitman.

Her life is very dull and there are not many people to talk to. She was born in a wealthy family in Massachusetts, and her father was a famous local gentleman. According to some sporadic memories of relatives and friends, she likes to wear white clothes and is withdrawn. She doesn't greet guests at home. She didn't attend her father's mourning ceremony, but watched from the door. From a modern point of view, she is likely to have an autism. Needless to say, she never got married.

Her poems are leap-forward, obscure and advanced in modernity. The most prominent feature is that she likes to use dashes "-"and dashes. This is a feature that fascinated many people. This is the case with the following short poem:

Wild night-wild night!

If I were with you,

Wild night is supposed to be

Our luxury!

A futile wind

The heart of the port—

Use a compass—

Complete the chart!

Rowing in Eden—

Ah, the sea!

Can I park tonight?

On you!

Storm night!-Storm night!

If I were with you,

Nuit d'orage

Our carnival!

Incompetence-wind-

For a heart that enters the harbor-

Break the compass-

Tear up the chart!

Paddling in the Garden of Eden-

Ah, the sea!

Let me be the host tonight-

In your arms!

Note: This poem is often used as a love poem for Valentine's Day. Because modern people's interpretation has a strong erotic meaning, we should look at the object when using it, and don't use it wrong.
