Taiping Heavenly Kingdom!
On the edge of Nanjing, beside Qinhuai River, Hong Xiuquan, who just turned 50, struggled in siege and despair.
At this time, Hong Xiuquan probably wouldn't have thought that just eleven years later, he slowly sank into this Jiangnan water town.
Why did this heavenly kingdom, which passed away like lightning, live well in the once-in-a-lifetime historical opportunity of the Manchu dynasty, full of crises, domestic troubles and foreign invasion, and rising everywhere?
Is it because "the country is in trouble because of long hair and pigtails, and Zeng Guofan has made his mark in Hunan?"
Or "The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement was finally strangled by Chinese and foreign reactionary forces?"
Or did Hong Xiuquan's corrupt behavior lead to the collapse of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom?

The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, with its capital in Nanjing, only occupies Nanjing, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang, and its population and land are far less than one tenth of that of the Manchu Dynasty.
Although the Taiping Army claims to be 500,000, there are only about 200,000 troops with fighting capacity, and the arduous battle has just begun.

After arriving in Nanjing, Hong Xiuquan and Yang mainly did four things: building a house, choosing concubines, playing music and protecting the yard.
Poems of the Heavenly Father, one of the classic official books published by the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in 1857, featured 500 famous works of heavenly kings, of which 476 were written by Hong Xiuquan to his concubines in the first three years in Nanjing and asked them to recite them. Hong Xiuquan has his own advantages in the management of empresses. His 88 queens, all without titles, are collectively called princesses. Because there are so many wives and concubines, Hong Xiuquan can't even remember her last name. How can you summon her to enjoy it? Hong Xiuquan made an unprecedented creation in the harem of ancient and modern China and foreign countries, and the numbers were numbered in turn, so he had unknown names such as the 25th wife and the 73rd wife.
No failure. Guess what?

Zeng Guofan was determined to be a minister of rejuvenation with the Confucian spirit of loyalty, filial piety, courtesy and shame, and advocated governing the world with Confucianism.

Hong Xiuquan even said that he had seen Ma Tian and Tian Sao in heaven to establish his authority.

Worship of God is not true Christianity. The worship of God denies the basic belief of Christianity's "Trinity", thus rendering that Hong Xiuquan is the only thrill to which destiny belongs.
In order to respect God alone, Hong Xiuquan tried his best to destroy the traditional culture of China represented by Confucianism.
The classic of a hundred schools of thought contended was ruthlessly destroyed.
Therefore, the obscurantism promoted by Hong Xiuquan is the extreme product of feudal absolutism. When talking about the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Dr. Sun Yat-sen once said: "After the revolution, it must be autocratic, and such a revolution cannot be considered a success."
His political ideas can only arouse the enthusiasm of the peasant class, but can't lead them to the other side of complete victory.
Zeng Guofan once grasped Hong Xiuquan's limitations and weaknesses, so in his movement against the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, he never mentioned the meaning of race, only exposed Hong Xiuquan's limitations and weaknesses.
Without the habit of studying hard and the ability to learn for personal use, Zeng Guofan could not write a campaign that could incite the broad masses of the people.
