Creation background
Qi Jiguang was a brave soldier all his life. He fought against the Japanese pirates in the southeast coast for more than ten years and wiped out the Japanese pirates who abused the sea for many years. In the 30th year of Jiajing of Sejong in Ming Dynasty (155 1), Qi Jiguang was stationed in Jimen, traveled north and south, and was deeply moved. He wrote the poem "Write at once".
Overall appreciation
Write at once is a masterpiece of Qi Jiguang's poetry. Poets don't write poems intentionally, but when inspiration comes, it pours out smoothly, so they are not carved, simple and natural, sincere and magnificent.
This poem has only four sentences, but it summarizes the life whereabouts and thoughts of this famous poet. Start with the sentence "north and south drive chi to report the main feelings", guide the whole poem and point out the theme. When Qi Jiguang was in Zhejiang, he went to Yiwu County to recruit and train this new army strictly. Strict military discipline, officers and men share weal and woe, and autumn is harmless, which greatly boosted the combat effectiveness of the army, and finally dealt a devastating blow to the invading enemy in Taizhou, which shocked the enemy's courage and made outstanding achievements.
After that, he went south, first destroying the Japanese pirates in Fujian, and then entering Guangdong to pacify the Japanese chaos. Then, he was transferred to the north, guarding Jizhou area 16 years. The border was cleaned and nothing happened. This is the specific content of "North-South Drive".
The "Lord" of "reporting the feelings of the Lord" naturally refers to the monarch. But in feudal society, the emperor was the supreme ruler of a country, and he represented the country. Therefore, it not only shows Qi Jiguang's loyalty to the monarch, but also shows his deep patriotic feelings. In the second sentence, "Jianghua" refers to the south and "Bianyue" refers to the north, which is a further visual description of "North-South Drive".
