The West Chamber was written by Wang Shifu, a poet in Yuan Dynasty. In the form of Yuan Zaju, this paper tells the parting scene of Cui Yingying Shili Changting sending Zhang Sheng to Beijing to take the exam, while Zhang Sheng and Cui Yingying, lovers who broke through secular love, are about to experience long-term parting lovesickness after a short period of joy. It reflects the sharp contradiction between free love and feudal ethics, and shows the accusation that feudal ethics seriously fetters and suppresses human nature and human feelings.
The Story of the West Chamber is a lyric poem, which belongs to the seven-character quatrain style of Tang poetry. By describing the parting of the hero and heroine, this poem expresses the longing for meeting and the feeling of giving up, and also shows the poet's pursuit of love and persistence. The emotion and artistic conception of this poem are very profound and beautiful, which makes the farewell pavilion a classic in China's classical literature.
