About the author

Zhao Yiman, formerly known as Li Kuntai, was born in October 1905 in a feudal landlord family in Yibin County, Sichuan Province. Joined the Communist Party of China in 1926. In 1927, he went to study at the Wuhan branch of the Central Military and Political School. In the same year, he went to Moscow to study at Sun Yat-sen University and returned to China in 1928. After the September 18th Incident, he went to the Northeast.
