Growing vegetables is simple and common. But for me, this is an interesting and hard work. When I was 7 or 8 years old, my grandparents planted seeds in a field in the yard. Curiosity makes me wonder how vegetables grow. I asked my grandfather, and he said, "You will know when the harvest is good in autumn." In spring, we sow. I water it every day, and I water it a lot every time. But grandma said not to water too much, otherwise, the food will drown. Later, I watered a small bucket of water every day. Not only water, but also weed and fertilize. Plants can be watered less in spring because it often rains for three or four days. After a long time, I also touched some doorways: some vegetables grow well, so you can use less chemical fertilizer, while some vegetables grow slowly, so you need to use more chemical fertilizer.
In summer, it often rains heavily in Yueyang, and the sewer is blocked, so we have floods here, and the strong vegetables in the vegetable fields can't be washed away by the floods. But some of them were buried deep and were not washed away by the water, but the water was too deep and drowned. When the water receded, we counted only 40 plants, and nearly 50 plants were "hung up".
Autumn is the harvest season. I took a small hoe to collect vegetables. We dug one plant after another and picked another, including cabbage, spinach, beans and so on. We are so happy!
