Rain Alley
Dai Wangshu
Holding an oil-paper umbrella, alone
Wandering in the long, long
Again Lonely rainy alley,
I hope to meet
a lilac-like
girl with sorrow and resentment.
She has
the same color as lilac,
the same fragrance as lilac,
the same sadness as lilac,
Grieving in the rain,
Grieving and hesitant;
She was wandering in this lonely rain alley,
Holding an oil-paper umbrella
< p> Like me,Like me
Walking in silence,
Indifferent, desolate, and melancholy.
She approached silently
As she approached, she cast a
breath-like look,
She drifted by
Like a dream,
Like a dream, sad and confused.
Floating like in a dream
In the field of a lilac,
This girl floated by my side;
She moved away silently , far away,
arrived at the dilapidated fence,
walked through the rainy alley.
In the mournful song of the rain,
her color has faded,
her fragrance has faded,
has faded, Even her
eyes were as breathless,
as melancholy as lilacs.
Holding an oil-paper umbrella, alone
Wandering in the long, long
and lonely rain alley,
I hope to float by< /p>
A lilac-like girl
A girl with sorrow and resentment.
Training Tips
"Rain Lane" was written in the summer of 1927 and is Dai Wangshu's early famous and representative work. After the poem was published, it had a great impact, and the poet was therefore called the "Rain Alley Poet". The poem depicts a gloomy picture of the alleys in the south of the Yangtze River during the plum rain season, thus forming a lyrical artistic conception rich in symbolic color. The "lilac-like girl" in the poem is a symbol of this beautiful ideal. However, this beautiful ideal is elusive and difficult to realize. This mentality is a true reflection of the author's state of mind as he chewed on the disillusionment and pain after the failure of the Great Revolution in loneliness, and his heart was filled with confused emotions and hazy hopes, intertwined with disappointment and hope, disillusionment and pursuit. In terms of art, this poem also clearly reflects the creative characteristics of Dai Wangshu's early poetry. It not only adopts the symbolic approach of emphasizing hints and symbols, but also is rich in music. The whole poem echoes a smooth rhythm and melody. The sense of melody mainly comes from the rhyme of the poem. In addition to the rhyme in the 3rd and 6th lines of each stanza, many sound groups that echo the rhymes are selected in the lines of each stanza. The repetition, refrain, chorus and other techniques in the poem create a looping melody and a pleasant sense of music, and at the same time strengthen the musical effect. As Ye Shengtao said, "Rain Alley" "opens a new era for the syllables of new poetry."
