The clan was named Chunzhi, nicknamed Azhi, named Huang, with the word Weiqing, Lanting and Lisheng, and was nicknamed Baishishan, so it was named Qi Baishi. There are a large number of pen names and self-names, such as Qida, Muren, Mujushi, Hongdousheng, descendants of Xingtang Old House, borrowing Shan Weng, borrowing the owner of Shanyin Pavilion, sending Garden, Pingweng, sending Pingtang owner, Longshan President, three hundred lithographs rich man, and the owner of Baishu pear flower. My family was poor, and I only studied in a short-term teacher's school. At the age of fifteen, I studied carpentry and became famous for carving skills. At the age of twenty-six, I switched from Xiao Chang and Wen Shao to learn portraits. At the age of twenty-seven, I began to learn poetry and calligraphy from Hu Qinyuan and Chen Shao. At the age of thirty-seven, I became a teacher with Wang Kaiyun, a master of Confucianism, and became friends with Wang Zhongyan, Li Songan and Yang Du. In his hometown, Qi Baishi lived in Xingdoutang, his birthplace, Meigong Temple, and Rujia Chongji Pingtang. Since the age of 4, he has traveled away from home, and traveled to Shaanxi, Henan, Beijing, Hebei, Hubei, Jiangxi, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Guangdong and Guangxi, enjoying famous mountains and rivers and making friends with contemporary celebrities. Fan Fanshan, Xia Wuyi and Guo Baosun are all close friends. At the age of 55, he fled to the north and settled in Beijing two years later. With Chen Shiceng, Xu Beihong, Luo Yinggong, Lin Fengmian, etc. At the age of seventy-four, he traveled to Shu and met Huang Binhong and Jin Songcen.
He has served as a professor of Beijing National Art College, honorary professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts, honorary president of Beijing Painting Academy and chairman of China Artists Association. In 1953, he was awarded the title of outstanding artist by the Ministry of Culture of China. In 1955, he was awarded the International Peace Prize by the World Peace Council, and was publicly promoted as a "world cultural celebrity" on the occasion of the centenary of his birth in 1963.
