The first couplet of Shu Fen's poems is a narrative, which depicts what it looks like.

This couplet is the poet's memory of the past. "Things are different" implies that it is so difficult for the capitulators to control the state affairs and resist the national rejuvenation, which paves the way for the next sentence "The Central Plains seems like a mountain and river". What kind of spirit is the "mountain of spirit", which reflects the desire to recover lost land and shapes the poet's early self-image: ambitious, full of pride, thinking about expelling the invaders. The Southern Song Dynasty was partial to the south of the Yangtze River, and my heart was filled with grief and indignation. "Qi Shan" transforms the intangible into the tangible by exaggeration, and presents the image of a patriotic poet with lofty aspirations and mixed grief and indignation to readers.
