Numbers chapter 33

In Numbers 33, the Lord said to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho, "Tell the Israelites that when you cross Jordan into the land of Canaan, you should drive all the residents there out from before you, destroy all their carved stones and idols, and tear down all their high places. Take this land and live in it, for I have given it to you for an inheritance. You shall cast lots for your families and inherit the land. If there are many people, we should give them more inheritance; Less people give less property. Give it to whoever gives it, and it will belong to whoever gives it. You shall inherit it according to the tribes of your families. If you don't drive out the inhabitants of the land, the residents you live in will become a thorn in your side and a thorn in your flesh, and will trouble you in the land where you live. Besides, I will treat you like them. " (No.33:50-56 and KJV)

1. Canaan land has been occupied by seven foreign clans. The Canaanites dedicated all the carved stone statues and all their idols on high places to them. Because they don't know the Lord God and don't believe in him. Their gods are idols and false gods, carved with stones or cast with gold and silver according to their own physical desires. What you can't see with your eyes, what you can't say with your mouth and what you can't hear with your ears is an empty god. However, the God of Israel is a powerful and omnipotent God. He created the universe, turned nothingness into something, and revived the dead. He is a god who can make people's souls enter the kingdom of heaven and get eternal life, and can also make people's souls go to hell to receive eternal punishment. And he has been leading Israel as promised and fulfilling his promise to Israel. He is a faithful God, who was, is and will never change.

2. God led the Israelites across the Jordan River and into the land of Canaan. The Israelites were easily assimilated by the Canaanites, accepted their beliefs, followed the customs of the land of Canaan, worshipped their idols, were trapped by their own selfish desires, and abandoned the Lord God who led them out of Egypt. Therefore, God asked the Israelites to drive away all the residents there, destroy all their stone carvings and statues, and tear down all their high places.

God leads us to be like the Israelites. Although we are saved now, the old ideas and ideas in our bodies are just like the seven peoples living in Canaan. Self-esteem, money, status, reputation, standards, ideas, etc. Has been occupying our hearts, let us worship these idols. If we don't get rid of such idols, it will affect our service and worship to God and keep us away from God. Therefore, God requires us to get rid of all kinds of idols and heights in our hearts, so that we can only look to God, serve God and live by his grace.
