Why is Suiyang the hometown of China's poetry?

The name "hometown of poetry" is not named by the cultural department, but by the Suiyang mass poetry competition. Through media reports, cultural departments at all levels attach great importance to it, vigorously and persistently carry out various poetry activities, and constantly produce a large number of influential poems and folk songs. The original poetry contest can be traced back to the 1950s and 1960s. Poetry magazines and People's Daily reported the poetry contest in Helan Mountain. For a time, poetry competitions in Anhui and other places were carried out on a large scale. The so-called "large scale" is nothing more than a few hundred people. Once, the People's Daily reporter came to Guizhou and heard that a commune in Suiyang County held a poetry competition (actually a folk song). The secretary of the commune gave a pen to everyone who came to the stage to compete in poetry, and actually distributed more than 2,000 pens. The People's Daily reporter broke the news and caused a sensation at once. Only then did I know that Suiyang was originally the hometown of poetry. That is, poetry comes first, then hometown. Poetry here refers to folk songs.
