The function of recording events is the prerequisite for poetry.
1. The Origin of Poetry
Primitive humans could not understand many natural phenomena, such as wind, lightning, thunder, rain, etc., so they attributed them all to gods. Out of awe, primitive humans sang and danced hymns to the gods, expressing people's expectations - good weather, good harvests, etc. This is the origin of poetry.
2. The development of poetry
As early as the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period, a large number of exquisite folk songs appeared, most of which were related to labor, production, love between men and women. In order to understand the local customs and customs of the people, the rulers at that time actively collected these folk songs and compiled them into a collection, which resulted in the first collection of poetry in my country, The Book of Songs.
In the Wei and Jin dynasties, those who supported the poetry culture at that time were the Sancao and the Seven Sons of Jian'an, also known as the Jian'an style. Most of their expressions were about the short life, the unrequited ambition, the sadness and resentment, and the artistic conception was grand. Has very distinct personal charm.
In the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the style of poetry reached a new heyday. Geniuses such as the Four Great Masters of the early Tang Dynasty appeared. Later, during the Wu Zetian period, Song Zhiwen and Shen Quanqi discovered through continuous research that if poems were created according to certain scale rules, better sound effects would be achieved, so they established the metrical issue of quatrain poems.
In the middle and late Tang Dynasty, many poets also began to write lyrics, which paved the way for Song poetry.
During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, there were basically no good poems, but there were great masters in the art of poetry such as Li Yu and Feng Yanji, the empresses of the Tang Dynasty. After the transition to the Song Dynasty, Ouyang Xiu, Su Dongpo, Liu Yong, Li Qingzhao, Xin Qiji, etc. once again pushed Song poetry to the pinnacle of art.
