Is there any real historical basis for the opera Mulan Ci?

Mulan Ci is one of Yuefu poems. Yuefu poems can be recited at first, and can also be sung. Later, the music that was sung was lost, and later generations could only see the words of the poem. The melody in Mulan Ci is catchy and rhymes, which is compiled by people according to legends or stories. The Mulan recorded in the poem belongs to the Northern Wei Dynasty, but there is almost no historical record about Mulan except the later literary creation based on Mulan Ci, so there is no such person as Mulan, the protagonist of Mulan Ci, but some details reflected in the poem of Mulan Ci exist.

Long-term war and turmoil in the Jin Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms, the sharp decline of the Han population in the mainland, gave the northern minorities the opportunity to invade the Central Plains. So the five lakes and sixteen countries, the army of ethnic minorities invaded the Central Plains, the mainland was empty, and the people were in dire straits. In 386 AD, Tuoba GUI of the Northern Wei Dynasty captured Luoyang and became the new capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty. At this time, it has entered the Southern and Northern Dynasties. The Northern Wei Dynasty was a dynasty in the early period of the Northern Dynasty. As described in Mulan Ci, the Northern Wei Dynasty and Rouran, as neighbors, fought with each other in order to compete for resources. In 424 AD, the last emperor died, and the new emperor ascended the throne soon. Rouran is a country established by nomadic people. Khan, the leader of Rouran, took this opportunity to quickly lead the troops to attack the Northern Wei Dynasty. Not to be outdone, the Northern Wei immediately organized defense and prepared to fight back. Rouran, under the leadership of the Northern Wei Emperor, relied on flexible tactics and geographical advantages, broke through the positive weaknesses, wiped out the enemy by mobile warfare, assembled superior forces, and constantly wiped out the enemy.

A large number of soldiers are certainly needed to fight a war. In ancient times, many conscription methods were to recruit men directly, or to draw one out of three. Under special circumstances, a serious shortage of soldiers can only reduce the conditions for conscription, while the enemy is a nomadic people and is relatively strong. Therefore, Mulan's elderly father was recruited into the right path. Tens of thousands of people in the army are wrapped in armor in battle, and it is really difficult to find individual women mixed in. In the struggle with Rouran, the Northern Wei always won. It is a common link for the emperor to reward meritorious ministers, so the situation of Mulan may be a special case at that time, but it is not clearly recorded in the history books, so later generations regard it as a legend to inspire young women.
