On a lonely boat on the river, an old man in a bamboo hat was fishing alone on the cold river covered with heavy snow.
Original poem:
Xue Jiang
Tang Dynasty: Liu Zongyuan
There are no birds flying over those mountains, and there are no traces of people in those paths.
A boat on the river, a fisherman wearing his webworm moth; Fishing alone is not afraid of snow and ice.
Absolutely: no, not all classics: empty refers to thousands of ways. Footprints of people. Loneliness: loneliness.

Extended data
Jiang Xue was written during Liu Zongyuan's exile in Yongzhou (805-8 15). During Yongzhen Yuan's reign (805), Liu Zongyuan participated in Yongzhen Reform initiated by Wang Group, and carried out political measures to restrain internal officials, control foreign countries and safeguard national unity. However, due to the joint opposition of reactionary forces, the reform soon failed. Liu Zongyuan was demoted to Yongzhou Sima and exiled for ten years. In fact, he lived a life of "prisoner" under control and house arrest.
The oppression of the sinister environment did not crush him. Being at a political disadvantage, he expressed the value and ideal interest of life through his poems.
The poet used the words "Qianshan" and "Wanjing" to set off the pictures of "boating alone" and "fishing alone" in the following two sentences. Without the words "thousand" and "ten thousand", the words "loneliness" and "independence" at the back will appear bland and uninspiring.
However, the poet put them under Qianshan and Wanjing, added a word "absolutely" and a word "extinction", and suddenly turned the most common and summarized dynamic into extreme silence and absolute silence, forming an unusual scene.
The word "Han Jiangxue" is the finishing touch, which organically links the two parts of the whole poem, not only forming a condensed picture, but also shaping a complete and prominent image of the fisherman. Describe the background in a concrete and meticulous way, and depict the subject image in a long-distance picture.
Liu Zongyuan is not indifferent by nature, but his attitude towards life is positive and persistent. Although he is a good Buddha, his thoughts are basically Confucian. He has two major activities in his life: one is to participate in Yongzhen innovation, and the other is to lead the ancient prose movement. Both of them are related to his thought of reviving Confucianism and helping the world and applying it.
Liu Zongyuan's existing poems are mostly works after being relegated to Yongzhou, with a wide range of themes and diverse genres. His narrative poems are simple in writing and vivid in description, and his allegorical poems are vivid in image and profound in meaning. Lyrics are better at expressing their feelings euphemistically and profoundly with fresh and cool writing.
Influenced by Xie Lingyun, some of Liu Zongyuan's five ancient poems are exquisitely worded, mixed with Hyunri, and even imitated Xie Lingyun's poetry. However, Liu's poems can contain bitterness, similarities and differences in beauty. Liu's poems also have rhythmic poems, which are famous for their generosity, sadness and health.
