Three Stories of Jiangnan is a set of poems by Bai Juyi, a poet in Tang Dynasty.
The first poem:
The scenery in Jiangnan is very beautiful, and the picturesque scenery has long been familiar. When spring comes, the sun rises from the river, the flowers on the river are brighter than red, and the green river is greener than the blue grass. How can we make people not miss Jiangnan?
Commentary: This poem depicts the beauty and vitality of spring scenery in the south of the Yangtze River. The poet described the spring in the south of the Yangtze River as "the flowers at sunrise are better than fire, and the riverside is as green as blue", vividly describing that when the sun rises from the river, the flowers on the river are reflected more brightly, while the river in spring presents a clear and green color. This description with strong color contrast makes the picture more vivid and makes people feel like they are in the spring scenery in the south of the Yangtze River.
Bai Juyi's "Jiangnan Memory" is written in this way. The author chooses the river flowers and spring water, and vividly depicts the beautiful scene of spring in Jiangnan through metaphor and foil.
The second poem:
Jiang Nanyi, the most memorable is Hangzhou. Looking for laurel trees in Zhongshan Temple in the month, watching the tide on the pillow in the county pavilion. When will you revisit?
Explanation: This poem expresses the poet's deep nostalgia for Hangzhou. The poet recalled looking for laurel seeds under the moon in the mountain temple and watching the Qiantang River tide in the county pavilion. These vivid pictures evoked his yearning for Hangzhou. Finally, "When will you come again?" It expresses the poet's desire to revisit his hometown.
The third poem:
Jiang Nanyi, followed by Wu Gong. Wu Yi cup of spring bamboo leaves, Wu Wa dance lotus drunk. Will we meet again sooner or later?
Explanation: This poem describes the poet's nostalgia for the Wu Palace and his love for the customs of Wu. The poet mentioned Wu Di's wine and Wu Wa's dance. These elements with local characteristics made the poet unforgettable. Finally, "Meet again sooner or later?" Expressed the poet's desire to meet Wu again.
These three poems are the expression of Bai Juyi's deep nostalgia and yearning for Jiangnan. The poet described his deep attachment and love for the south of the Yangtze River with exquisite brushwork through the detailed description of the spring scenery in the south of the Yangtze River, the landscape in Hangzhou and the human feelings in Wu. At the same time, these poems also show the poet's love for life and praise for nature, which makes readers have a strong interest and yearning for Jiangnan.
