Scholars’ Comments
Mr. Huang Huangliang, a famous young painter whose hometown is in Anhui, was helped by the splendid land of Anhui. In my opinion, he should be the best among contemporary young figure painters. An outstanding one. Throughout the contemporary era, there are many people who are called painters, just like writers, but only a few are successful. Therefore, the countless painters and writers today are no more than painters and writers. However, Mr. Huang Huangliang did not fall into the ordinary world, and suddenly created his own style, freely galloping freely in the world of Chinese classical figures, flower and bird paintings, and becoming a school of his own. Mr. Huang Huangliang's word "wuwu" comes from the sentence "I am different from this, it is necessary and indispensable" in "The Analects of Confucius: Wei Zi". He used the allusion as a word, which is actually a self-encouragement. There is nothing and nothing that cannot be done. It is a kind of free state like "taking advantage of things to wander the mind", and it is a psychological premise and pursuit of artistic creation.
Without a free heart, there is no sense of galloping, and without a sense of gallop, there is no sense of freedom in painting. This is a very high realm, but it is rare for contemporary young painters to realize this. Mr. Wu is not only proficient in painting and calligraphy, but also Bypass literature, novels, reviews, essays, and poetry are all involved, all of which are impressive and enviable. There are some contemporary painters who find it difficult to improve their realm throughout their lives. They remain superficial in their knowledge and lack talent. Mr. Wu is a man who spans many categories of literature, painting, calligraphy, and is prolific and achieves great things. He has no use for his talent. Talk a lot.
Dong Qichang, a painter of the Ming Dynasty, once said, "When it comes to painting, the inner nature of your heart is revealed at the end of the brush, and it changes in a trance, just like its objects. It is enough to inspire people's high aspirations and inspire people's majesty." Painting touches the heart and inspires people. The heroic spiritual activity is also a kind of pursuit. Dong Qichang advocated that artists should purify their own souls. Only a peaceful and pure soul can express the beauty of heaven and earth, and can clearly understand tastes and images, and contain Tao and things. Mr. Wuwu is a person with a "childish heart". During the several times we interacted with him, I found that his cute and humorous conversation was not worthy of his mature painting style and smooth calligraphy. , but this seems to be the inevitable result. Li Zhi, a scholar from the Ming Dynasty, once profoundly analyzed the role of an artist's childlike innocence in promoting artistic creation. Mr. Wu's childishness is the embodiment of his pure and peaceful soul, and it is also the reason why his works have reached an extremely high level.
Painters can be roughly divided into four categories. Ancient sages have said: "The paintings of talented people are of high quality and far-reaching; the paintings of poets are elegant and charming; the paintings of strange people are high-end but bitter; Paintings by painters are true and false." Paintings by one type of talented people such as Wu Daozi, paintings by poets such as Wang Wei, paintings by strange people such as Xu Wenchang, and paintings by painters are the most popular in today's painting world. The ears of all craftsmen. Mr. Wu’s paintings have the spirit of a talented person because of his high talent; the spirit of a poet because of his poetry and poetry; and the appearance of a strange person because of his youthful study tours throughout China. During his college days, he was in Japan, Painting exhibitions have been held in various countries in Malaysia, capturing the wonders of heaven and earth and blending them into his brush strokes. Therefore, the characters in his paintings are all leisurely, unrestrained and ethereal, completely natural and of extraordinary realm.
Mr. Liu Dawei, Chairman of the my country Artists Association, once praised Mr. Wu Wu in a review article for his "profound breath of life, free and easy brushwork, elegant and pleasing colors, and unique and rich compositions, which have formed his His distinctive personal artistic style has enabled him to find a new position in traditional techniques and expression of contemporary humanistic features." Mr. Liu has profound attainments and is famous all over the world. He has met countless young painters, but he is the only one who appreciates Brother Wu so highly. It can be seen that Wu Wu has an irreplaceable seat in the mainstream painting circles and will have an infinitely broad future for artistic creation.
In terms of painting style, I think Mr. Wu’s painting style is close to that of the Six Dynasties. During the Six Dynasties, verve was very important. Therefore, the painter Gu Kaizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty first advocated the theory of "expressing the spirit", and the painter Xie He of the Qi and Liang Dynasties in the Southern Dynasties Advocating the theory of "qiyun", expressiveness and charm are the most basic and highest level requirements of figure painting. Everyone who has been exposed to the history of Chinese art and painting creation knows that landscapes are easy to copy, but characters are difficult to describe. There is no absolute standard for whether landscapes are similar or not. The landscapes are not similar to the ones here, but there are similarities in the landscapes. However, the characters are different. There are only a few people like Li Bai and Su Shi since ancient times. If they were painted on paper, it would be clumsy if they did not look like them. If they were painted by famous artists, they would be laughed at forever. Landscape painting is the result of thousands of bridges, while figure painting is the result of a single bridge and path. This is also the reason why there are many landscape masters in the past dynasties but few figure masters. Mr. Wu expresses characters with just a few strokes. As soon as the lines are drawn, the charm is already revealed. Whether it is Tao Qian picking chrysanthemums on the east fence or Liu Yong sighing deeply at the dawn wind on the willow bank, whether it is a graceful lady in front of the flowers under the moon or an angry look. The kind-hearted Zhong Kui is hidden and hidden, simple and ethereal, lifelike and highly expressive, capturing the essence of the character and the charm of his temperament.
In "Records of Famous Paintings of the Past Dynasties", Zhang Yanyuan, a painter and scholar of the Tang Dynasty, divided paintings and painters into multiple eras, including ancient times and lower antiquity. He said, "The paintings in ancient times are simple, light and elegant, and Gu Luzhi The style of painting is the same; the paintings of the Middle Ages are detailed, delicate and beautiful, and the style of Zhan Zheng is also the style; the paintings of modern times are full of splendor and perfection." This means that the painting styles advocated by each era are different, and the painters also have distinct characteristics. Zhang Yanyuan was born in the style of the times, with profound artistic attainments and far-sightedness. Here he did not focus on the past and ignore the present, but actually criticized the impetuous painting style at that time. It is difficult to distinguish between ancient paintings, medieval paintings and contemporary paintings. The difference between paintings is that famous paintings have their own reasons for being famous, and famous artists have their own reasons for their names. If today's painters can absorb the simplicity and blandness of the ancient traces, integrate the meticulous and delicate charm of the Middle Ages, and add talent and diligence, how difficult will it be to become a famous artist? Mr. Wuwu often looks at the paintings of the ancients. Whenever he encounters famous paintings from all over the country in exhibition halls and art galleries, he spends all day in front of the paintings, forgetting to eat and sleep, and has a profound understanding of the ancient sages. . In fact, whether it is a painter, calligrapher, or scholar or poet, comprehension is the primary cause of talent. A high level of comprehension means a person with advanced talent. He must be diligent and sharp. The painting style of the ancient painters is indeed normal. As the saying goes, it will happen when it comes. Mr. Wu once gave me a painting of a lady. This was a painting I asked him for specifically because we both liked Tang Yin, a talented man from the Ming Dynasty. Tang Yin is known all over the world to be good at painting ladies. When Mr. Wu was young, he took Tang Bohu's ladies as a model, studied them carefully, learned from others' strengths, and synthesized the painting style of ladies in the Tang Dynasty, so he achieved today's state of mind.
As a figure painter, even if I travel all over the world in the future, I can’t miss the tranquility and elegance of Suzhou. I have wasted years and years in vain. I hope Mr. Wu Wu can come to my hometown to appreciate the paintings in the future. Admire the flowing water and the small bridge, and draw the peach blossoms of the ladies.
You can see that my Suzhou ancestor Tang Bohu was half drunk and half awake under the peach blossom tree. After painting the graceful ladies, he sighed like this, "When I'm sober, I just sit among the flowers, and when I'm drunk, I come to sleep under the flowers." Half awake and half drunk day after day, flowers bloom and fall year after year." This is the free state of "doing everything" and the best time for artistic creation. Flowers bloom and fall year after year, and there will be one year after another. After years of harvest, I hope that Mr. Wu Wu will soon become a famous figure in the country with his extraordinary talent and extraordinary diligence. (Song Haohao/Text)
Social Evaluation
I think he is an excellent painter who respects tradition but does not stick to tradition. His experience has given him the opportunity to try in many aspects , integrating Eastern and Western cultures and refining creative concepts that are helpful to his own expertise. Today is just the beginning of a new period of creation and exploration for him. I believe that with his consistent diligent and dedicated attitude and love for the art of Chinese painting, he will definitely reach a higher level in the field of Chinese painting in the future. (Chairman of the China Artists Association: Liu Dawei)
As a younger generation of Chinese figure painters, the keenness shown in Huang Huangliang's works is enough to illustrate his potential. And he is familiar with the history of aesthetics, which is of great help to his creation. (Member of China Artists Association, Chairman of Hunan Artists Association: Chen Baiyi)
Huang Huangliang creatively absorbed the essence of traditional Chinese ink painting and watercolor painting, and improved on the basis of new literati painting. His works of Zhong Kui are different from the traditional ferocious appearance of Zhong Kui, but incorporate more human elements into it, making Zhong Kui "become cute". And his works of ladies advocating the spiritual realm of "elegance" and "beauty" are breathtaking.
