Five words are five words in each sentence, such as "I woke up briskly in this beautiful spring morning" and seven words are seven words in each sentence, such as "two orioles singing green willows". Four sentences in the whole poem are called quatrains and eight sentences are called metrical poems. So there are five-character quatrains, five-character poems, seven-character quatrains and seven-character poems.
Five-character ancient poems are referred to as five ancient poems, and seven-character ancient poems are referred to as seven ancient poems.
