Oh, my god One should not deceive oneself. If any of you thinks he is wise in the world, he might as well become foolish so as to become wise. 」
[Text Note] "People should not deceive themselves", the original sentence is now imperative mood, which shows that some of them were deceiving themselves at that time, and Paul asked them to stop this situation. And their "self-deception" is "thinking smart".
"If any of you thinks he is wise in this world", many Corinthians think he is wise and follow their favorite leader (see Cor. 4: 6), which led to the division of the church, so Paul once again emphasized the futility of secular wisdom (1 Cor. 1. 1 18~29).
Note that according to the original "among you" followed by "in this world", these two opposing words are put together to express richness; Many Corinthians seem to be in the church, but in fact they live in the world and act according to its principles.
"It's better to be stupid" is to wake up, abandon people's wisdom and stop "thinking that you are smart in this world". The word "instead of" here, I definitely suggest that they replace the word "self-righteous" in the previous sentence.
"Wisdom" refers to true wisdom (see Cor. 1. 2: 6).
[Light in the Word] (1) The wisdom of the world often makes people fall into self-deception; With world wisdom, we often despise spiritual wisdom. Secular knowledge can sometimes become a spiritual obstacle, making people unable to get spiritual wisdom.
(2) As the old saying goes, "People who are ignorant and don't know their ignorance are fools; We should avoid him. If a person is ignorant and knows his ignorance, he is a wise man; He should be taught. The only way to be smart is to know our stupidity; The only way to learn is to admit our ignorance.
(3) People who are complacent cannot be taught. Plato said: "The cleverest man knows that he lacks a lot, so he strives for wisdom. 』
(4) If people want to have real spiritual insight, they must run counter to the values of secular wisdom. In other words, if people want to gain true spiritual understanding, they must become "stupid" in the eyes of the world and abandon "the wisdom of this world" (see section 19) in order to gain true wisdom.
Oh, my god For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the sight of God. As the book says, "A wise man will be fooled by his own tricks. 』」
[Text Note] "Because the wisdom of this world is stupid in the eyes of God", the wisdom of this world is completely confined to the material category, and it is impossible to go beyond its boundaries and see further and deeper things; Such wisdom is foolish in the eyes of God (see Cor. 1. 1: 20).
"As written," the following poem is quoted from work V 13.
"Smart people are deceived by their own tricks", but smart people are misled by smart people. People think that worldly wisdom is omnipotent and should be used to understand spiritual things, but as a result, they misunderstand spiritual things because of their own wisdom
[Light in the Word] (1) All people who think they are smart are living in self-deception. If a person does not accept Christ as wisdom, his life path is bound to be full of traps, and all his life and work will fall into the trap of Satan.
(2) People's tricks can only deceive people, but not God.
Oh, my god Jesus said, The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are vain. 』」
[Original meaning] "False" is invalid, futile, and will have no result.
[Interpretation] "Say it again", the following scripture is quoted from poem 94 1 1.
"The Lord knows that the wise man's thoughts are illusory", and "wise man" refers to ordinary people with secular wisdom; "Illusion" describes the fleeting human wisdom, which has no eternal value (see poem 94 1 1), but it is boastful and arrogant.
What it means here is that God knows everyone's thoughts, and nothing can hide it from God. God also knows that people's thoughts are meaningless and valuable.
Secular wisdom is limited by limited material realm and limited life intelligence, so it cannot enter eternity, so many people's ideals are just illusory dreams, which cannot be realized and will eventually perish.
Oh, my god 3.21"So, no one can point at others and boast, because everything is yours. 」
[Text Note] "So no matter who you are, don't praise others." "Praising others" means being proud of following a certain leader. This mentality of worshipping leaders is the main factor that causes the division of the church.
"Because all things are yours", and "all things" refers to all the works of the Lord, or the world, or life, or death, or present things, or future things (see section 22). What the church has to bear in Christ is really infinite (see Luo. 8: 32).
[Light of Words] (1) People who belong to the flesh show off the created people, while spiritual people show off the creator.
(2) Christians should realize that everything in Christ far exceeds everything in the world. Christians who boast about the wisdom and smallness of the world are tantamount to belittling themselves, because under the grace of Christ, "everything belongs to you" and we belong to Christ (see verse 23). We should boast about Christ, so that we will not be different and inconsistent.
(3) Since the church shares everything with Jesus Christ (see. 1:10 ~11), it can only boast about the Lord who is greater than all things, and should not share with each other and boast about others.
(4) praising the workers of any employer will not add any benefits to themselves, but will lead to losses. The infinite treasure house was originally a believer, but he was willing to give it up for the laborer himself.
(5) To equate yourself with the Party is to put yourself in a slave position; In fact, believers should be the masters of everything and not belong to anyone or group.
Oh, my god 3: 22 "Or Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things now, or things to come, are yours; 」
"or Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas," they represent all the workers of the Lord; The workers of the Lord belong to the people they serve-believers and churches.
"or the world, or life, or death", for believers who live for the Lord, "the world" exists for us; If we are really alive and Christ, death is still beneficial (see Phil. 1: 2 1).
"What happens now or what will happen in the future is yours." The role of the church in Christ is not limited to this life.
[There is light in words] (1) belongs to many Corinthians who think they belong to Paul and Apollos (v. 4), but Paul says they belong to believers; It can be seen that God's workers, no matter how powerful their gifts are and how great their role is, are all for the sake of the church, belong to the church, and have no special status and surpass the church.
(2) No matter how effective the main work is, it can't compare with Paul's results; No matter how eloquent the workers of the Lord are, they are not as capable as Apollos (Acts18: 28); No matter how great the workers of the Lord are, they cannot be greater than Peter; They all belong to the church. How can a master worker become the master of today's church?
(3) Some people call this section "a list of the property of God's children". God's servants are ours. Since they belong to us, it is foolish for us to claim to belong to any of them. Besides, the world is ours. Since we are the heirs of Christ, we will have this world one day.
(4) "Life" is ours, not only the survival on the ground, but also the most authentic and complete life. Life in Christ is the only real life. Since Christ is better than death, the "death" of believers is not bad news, but "benefit" (1 Cor. 1. 15: 55~57), although people who don't believe in it die.
(5) Any experience in life, including death itself, belongs to believers, which means that it will bring benefits in the end.
The present and the future are ours, which means that everything is working for those who love God (see Luo. 8: 28) Robertson once said, "For those who participate in God's plan to save the people, the stars in the orbit also fight for him. 』
(7) Paul didn't mention the past here. Maybe the past is not our responsibility, and there is nothing we can do. The present is different from the future and belongs to the believers; Can join hands with god's plan.
(8) people who split into small groups in the church give up all the rights they can enjoy, but devote their strength and heart to trivial things and are confined to the small circle of life. It's so stupid!
(9) No matter which worker of God has the gift of God, it should be generally accepted; However, just because you accept too much supply from a worker, you can't even feel in your mind or show in your actions that you belong to this worker, which will change you from one customer to another.
Oh, my god You belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. 」
(1) Verses 22 and 23 clearly show us an order: first, God, second, Christ, third, church (believers), fourth, workers.
(2) If the church belongs to a worker of God, it will lose its direct ownership of Christ, the head of state, and its independent sovereignty.
(3) A believer's life performance of service is worthy of being called "belonging to Christ"; Their lives should prove their identity.
