walks alone
in a long, long,
lonely rainy lane with an oil-paper umbrella.
I hope to meet a girl who is
as sad as a lilac.
She is
lilac-like color,
lilac-like fragrance,
lilac-like sadness,
sadness in the rain,
sadness and hesitation;
She wanders in this lonely rain lane,
holding an oil-paper umbrella
Like me,
Like me, she silently looks
cold, sad and melancholy.
She approached
silently, and cast a
sighing look.
She drifted
like a dream,
like a dream, sad and confused.
Like a lilac floating in a dream,
I passed this girl by;
She walked away silently, far away,
to the decaying fence wall,
to walk through the rainy lane.
In the elegy of rain,
her color faded,
her fragrance dispersed
dissipated, even her
sighing eyes,
lilac melancholy.
Holding an oil-paper umbrella, wandering alone in a long, long, lonely rain lane,
I hope to float across
a girl with a clove-like
knot.
This is a poem I like very much. Dai Wangshu's famous work was written in the summer of 1927. I once took it in a recitation contest. Hehe, I hope it can help you.
