What is Wang Wei's reputation?
Wang Wei is called Shi Fo. Wang Wei's reputation as "Shi Fo" mainly stems from the Buddhist implication and religious tendency in his poems. Wang Wei's word is Mosha, the name of Mosha lay. He is not only a Zen master, but also proficient in poetry, calligraphy, painting, music and so on. His poems were quite famous in Kaiyuan and Tianbao years, especially in five words, praising landscapes and pastoral areas. Together with Meng Haoran, they are called Wang Meng. Wang Wei, a famous poet and painter in the Tang Dynasty, was born in the royal family in Hedong. He was a scholar in the ninth year of Kaiyuan examination, and held the post of Da Lecheng. Wang Wei's works are most famous for depicting natural scenery such as mountains and rivers, rural areas and reciting seclusion poems, which embodies his profound understanding and pursuit of Zen thought.
