If you are happy, what should you expect?
Surprised flowers are full of white hair, watching geese remember the Yellow River.
There are few books after chaos and many trees before frost.
Embarrassment is unbearable and an obstacle.
The first couplet "What should you expect when you are happy?" It sets a tone for the whole poem: I am interested in climbing, but what can I do if I climb and look far? This sentence is even more difficult to say than "I know from a distance that my brothers climb high, and one person lacks the ground." The second couplet, "Surprised flowers with white hair, watching geese remember the Yellow River", reveals this helplessness for us. It turns out that the poet has another kind of sadness about the relentless passage of time besides missing his loved ones. Facing the beautiful flowers, I suddenly realized that I was no longer young, and the years disappeared without a trace; When I saw the geese returning to the south, I remembered that I was traveling abroad and couldn't go home. The geese can still return to the south every year. What a shame!
The third triple "There were fewer books after the troubled times, but more trees before first frost" is quite similar to Du Fu's sentence "After three months of bonfire, a letter from home is worth a ton of gold". In this way, in addition to missing relatives and lamenting the time, the feelings of the whole poem add a sense of sadness and sorrow for autumn, which makes the feelings expressed in the poem more complicated. And the tail couplet "is difficult for an official, but also hinders the war", and the summary of the first two couplets comes again, saying that it has long been unbearable for the loneliness and freedom of an official career, not to mention in such a chaotic era!
