What does it mean to be smart and distracted?

Interpretation: Cao Jiagongzi, who is personable, is as quick as a god.

Source: Sitting with the Prince by Cao Zhi during the Three Kingdoms Period.

Original text:

Youth in the daytime, static dust in the rain.

The cold ice caused an inflammatory scene, and the cool wind floated around me.

Clear and rich in gold, dishes emerge one after another.

Qi people enter the strange music, and singers go out of the Western Qin Dynasty.

I'm charming, my son, and I'm smart and inattentive.

Vernacular translation: Spring is beautiful, and a good rain washes away the red dust flying all over the sky. The sunshine is so warm that it melts the ice and snow, and the cool spring breeze blows me. The golden cup is filled with sweet spring mud, and the food is mixed. The beautiful women in Qi performed beautiful dances, and the singers in the west sang heartily. Cao Jiajun is as quick as a god.

Creative background:

In the 22nd year of Jian 'an (2 17), with the help of Sima Yi, Wu Zhi and other ministers, Cao Pi defeated Cao Zhi in the dispute of inheritance rights and was made Prince Wang Wei. In the twenty-fourth year of Jian 'an (2 19), Cao Pi served as Chu Jun in Yecheng (now west of Linzhang County, Hebei Province), and Wei satirized his plot to attack his regime and surrendered with Chen Yi. Cao Pi led the crowd to put down the rebellion, so he satirized Wei's murder.

When Cao Pi was the king of Wei, he actively organized literary groups, participated in encouraging literary creation, and made works similar to chanting poems flourish, which became a unique atmosphere for the development of Jian 'an literature. Sitting with the King was written in the 23rd year of Jian 'an after Cao Pi was made a prince. This poem describes what Cao Zhi saw and heard when he accompanied Prince Cao Pi to dinner.
