Huang Zuo's Zhuanglang poems made him the leader of Lingnan Poetry School.

Huang Zuo is also a talented and prolific poet. His poetic style is vigorous, magnificent and unrestrained, and he is known as "Changli (Hanyu) in Central Guangdong". Poetry has a variety of themes, broad realm and profound connotation, which has a great influence on Guangdong poets in the Ming Dynasty. Zhu Yizun, a famous scholar, even regarded Huang Zuo as the leader of Lingnan Poetry School.

Huang Zuo is worthy of being an outstanding scholar in Lingnan in Ming Dynasty. Later generations spoke highly of his academic achievements. According to the summary of Sikuquanshu, among the figures in Ming Dynasty, Huang Zuo is the most knowledgeable. Wanli's Guangxi Tongzhi listed him as a biography of a famous minister. In the early Qing Dynasty, Wang Yangming and others were listed as famous official temples in Guangxi. At present, there is still Huangzuo's tomb in front of Jingtai Temple in Qixialing, Baiyun Mountain, Guangzhou, which is one of the key cultural relics protection units in Guangzhou.
