Why was the first English translation "william shakespeare was a famous dramatist and poet"? Why were plays and poems translated into English?

Hello!

This is a good question.

Personally, I don't think it is appropriate to translate the authors of plays and poems into dramatists and poets.

The original meaning of drama and poetry writers should be "the author of drama and poetry", so it is better to translate them into drama and poetry writers (or drama writers and poets).

The above is for reference only!
