Reciting Chinese classics to inherit patriotism
When I was young, my father asked me to recite classics. I have recited many sentences in the "Three Character Classic", but I often only understand them half-understood. As time went by, I slowly understood its meaning. Then there is reading Tang poetry and Song poetry, and reciting some famous poems.
As I got older, my interest focused on reading historical works, from "Historical Records" to "Hanshu", all the way to historical works of the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. I read everything I could find. Willing to read. What I feel most deeply from these classics is the patriotism of our Chinese nation.
Everyone has patriotism. Because the country is not only the destination for everyone, but also our dignity. When a country is strong, it can stand tall in front of foreigners. On the contrary, it will feel ashamed.
As a Chinese, I love my country; reciting classics has further cultivated my patriotism. Only with patriotism can we have Qu Yuan's persistence of "never regretting even though he died nine times", Yue Fei's ambition of "driving a long chariot across the gap in the Helan Mountains", and Wen Tianxiang's "No one has died since ancient times in life, and he has retained his loyalty." Yuan Chonghuan's ambition of "supporting a pillar in the south sky, with blue clouds above it" is the result of the iron bones of "reflecting history".
Back then, Qi Jiguang fought bloody battles with the Japanese pirates for the sake of the country’s stability; Zhang Fu fought against Annan’s army for the sake of the country’s dignity; Zheng Chenggong expelled the Dutch invaders and recovered Taiwan for the sake of the country’s unification. They are like bright stars that will remain in the sky of history forever, allowing us to look up to them and be moved by them.
Reading classics seems to have made me grow up many years suddenly, understand many truths, and make me reflect on many phenomena around me.
Nowadays, some Chinese people are proud to own foreign products, and a few dispensable foreign languages ??appear from time to time in entertainment programs; in advertisements, product names are clearly in Chinese, but they have to add A few sentences in English to show the difference of your products. I really don’t know what our sages would think if they knew what they did.
I hope that more people will join the ranks of reciting classics, get to know our great motherland, understand our splendid culture, and increase their patriotism.
Not long ago, I participated in a sports meeting held in my hometown. In the waiting area, I saw a chilling scene: many small national flags bought by people were thrown on the ground, and some were stepped on. I suddenly remembered that on the Internet, the national flag has been spoofed into many weird ways. Although the "Flag Law" explicitly prohibits it, many people dismiss it and say, isn't it just a piece of paper? Is it useful?
In the United States, the national flag always occupies the leading role in many movies. The prominent position may even steal the show from the protagonist. If you haven’t seen it, the beginning of “Patton” shows Patton standing in front of a huge American flag and giving a speech; and in “Superman”, there is a scene of Superman righting the American flag on the moon. This may make many Chinese people feel ashamed after seeing it.
Why are many young people now less and less patriotic? I think one of the reasons is that they don’t read classics and don’t understand Chinese history, thinking that these old things are outdated. In the final analysis, they are short-sighted and only see what is in front of them: fashionable handbags and foreign luxury cars? As everyone knows, China's development cannot only rely on these things, but needs to absorb the nutrients of China's five thousand years of history. A large number of outstanding talents require a passionate and pure heart.
Walking with classics, preserving history and culture; walking with classics, inheriting patriotism. Let us all join in reciting classics and let the national spirit flow forever in our blood.
