Tianya Haijiao Scenic Area is located in Maling Mountain, 26 kilometers west of Sanya City, Hainan Province. It stands under the clear water and blue sky, overlooking the vast South China Sea all year round.
Hainan was a relegated place in ancient times because it was vast and sparsely populated, and it was desolate and lonely overseas. Hu Quan, a famous minister in the Song Dynasty, lamented that "there is no way forward, and there is no hope of turning around", expressing the sad mentality of relegating officials. Just like this, when they come to the end of the land facing the vast sea and there is no way to go, people can only look at the sea and sigh that they have reached the end, which will not help the corner of the sea. This has become the origin and source of the proverb "Tianya Haijiao".
Nowadays, the ends of the earth have changed the impression that people once left. Coconut trees are forests and colorful, and they have become places for people to travel and spend their holidays. On the foggy South China Sea, white sails are dotted; There are modern buildings such as Tianya National Customs Garden and Tianya Gallery in the scenic area, as well as entertainment facilities such as bathing beach, Diaoyutai and yacht. There are many strange stones on the edge of the rock, standing by the sea. Carved on the stone are: Tianya, Haijiao, Nantianyizhu, Judge of the Sea Nantian. Among them, the inscription "Tianya" was written by Cheng Zhe, the magistrate of Yazhou in Yongzheng period of Qing Dynasty, and the note "Nantianyi" was written by Fan Yunti, a well-known magistrate in Xuantong period of Qing Dynasty.
Among these stone carvings, the Cliff Stone Carvings, which belong to the "Sea Examining South Heaven", are the oldest and the most special. According to records, the stone inscription on the cliff of "The Sea Sentenced to the South Heaven" is "November of the fifty-third year of Kangxi", which was carved on a natural boulder surface after being cut by Emperor Kang as an imperial envoy. This unusual move is considered to contain important historical secrets and has been painstakingly cracked for many years. The final conclusion is that the "Sea to South" stone carving group is the southernmost landmark of Chinese mainland land map left by Emperor Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (excluding the South China Sea Islands in territorial waters), the real "Tianya Haijiao" in China land map, and the landmark site left by Emperor Kangxi in surveying and mapping the Imperial Land Map.
People who come to the ends of the earth for a holiday, walking by the sea and wandering among the strange rocks, can not only immerse themselves in the subtropical customs, but also experience the charm of the inscription on the boulder and the leisure and beauty of the ends of the earth.
