Susong county is located in the southwest of Anhui Province, bordering Dabie Mountain in the north and Yangtze River in the south. The county governs 9 towns, 12 townships, 2 streets and 2 13 villages (communities) with a total area of 2,394 square kilometers. Susong has a long history. In the fourth year after Emperor Gaozu (BC 184), the post-Songzi State was established. In the 18th year of Emperor Wendi (AD 598), it was renamed susong county, which has been in use ever since, with a history of more than 2,200 years.
Susong is the birthplace of Huangmei Opera, one of the four major local operas in China, and the folk opera Wennan Ci is listed in the national intangible cultural heritage list. It is the hometown of China's poems, and emperors, generals and literati have left many well-known poems. There are Shilindong Forest Park, a national 4A scenic spot, Baiyazhai, which is known as the "Great Wall of the South", and Xiaogushan, a national 3A scenic spot.

Susong county geological structure belongs to the eastern end of Dabie Mountain, and it is in the transition zone from Huaiyin geological ancient continent to Nanjing depression.
